hiking,
chewing coca leaves, drinking yerba mate tea. porters dashing, ok sprinting
miles ahead of everyone, well, some
us. maybe it's the altitude, or perhaps the tea, most likely the leaves, I'm
hyped, doped, and kicking it up narrow pathways,
stumbling through little ravines, splashing ice cold Andes mountain water on
my face. eating
unfamiliar grub, it's not gourmet, but
it tastes really delish (when hungry). the sky is an expanse of blue lined with
white capped snowy peaks disappearing into
snowy white clouds. rays of light
are producing brilliant electric neon rainbows, it's dazzling, (hmm) maybe munched
too
many (LOL)
of the coca leaves... trippy hippy happy honey, chirping to jazzy tunes, hopskotching
over peruvian rocks....
lace up your boots, trekking to Machu Picchu...

The Andes, Peru 2003
Did I mention those fantastic Coca Leaves....?, well the chocolate
